The calendar may say it’s Spring, however; Winter hasn’t quite let go in my neck of the woods. I live in the northeast section of the United States. This past Winter was listed as one of the coldest on record. There were even some below zero days and a lot of snow. Pittsburgh, PA has had some warm days but that weather hasn’t lasted.
Winter is extremely hard on my skin and hair. Here are the products I used.
- Ion Reconstructor
- Shea Oil
- Cantu Shea Butter Leave In Conditioner Repair Cream
- Trader Joe’s Organic Virgin Coconut Oil
- Shea Butter
- Carol’s Daughter Healthy Hair Butter
- Carol’s Daughter Tui Leave In Conditioner
I used the Carol’s Daughter Tui Leave In Conditioner to add extra moisture to my hair. The dry air makes my hair feel crunchy. This leave in conditioner eliminated that.
I used the Carol’s Daughter Healthy Hair Butter as a part of the LOC method (leave in, oil, cream) in my hair routine. This cream is the last step of that.
The bitter cold caused dry patches on my face. I used the Organic Virgin Coconut Oil from Trader Joe’s to remedy that.
The shea oil was a part of the LOC method in my hair routine. I used to use castor oil to seal my ends. I like the shea oil much better.
I hardly used traditional lotion during the Winter. My skin wasn’t ashy at all when I used the shea butter.
I’ve gotten in the habit giving my hair protein treatments. That’s why I use Ion Reconstructor as a deep conditioner.
I’ve read some really positive reviews on the Cantu Shea Butter Leave In Conditioner Repair Cream. This is the first step in LOC method of my hair routine.
I will probably make some adjustments to my beauty routine once the weather warms up. One thing for certain I am keeping the products for the LOC hair method and the Ion Reconstructor. They seem to be working.

I belong to the Pittsburgh based natural hair community on Facebook called It’s a Natural Thang. Recently someone posted the Macy’s in Pittsburgh was no longer carrying Carol’s Daughter. The inventory already in stock was being marked down to 50%. You don’t have to tell me twice when Carol’s Daughter is 50% off.
This is what I purchased.
Monoi Repairing Split End Sealer, Monoi Repairing Collection
I have purchased both the Monoi Repairing Split End Sealer and the Monoi Repairing Collection in the past for my oldest daughter. She flat irons her hair and I’m trying to get her in the habit of taking better care of her tresses.
Tui Moisturizing Leave-In Conditioner, Healthy Hair Butter Protective Cream Hairdress
I originally purchased the Tui Moisturizing Leave-In Conditioner and the Healthy Hair Butter earlier this year. I am liking the results I’ve been getting from this combination. I purchased more so I have enough to carry me through the rest of this Winter. This has been preventing my hair from drying out.
Black Vanilla Moisturizing Leave-In Conditioner, Marguerite’s Magic Restorative Cream Hairdress
I decided. the try out the Black Vanilla Moisturizing Leave-In Conditioner and Marguerite’s Magic Restorative Cream Hairdress. More tools for my haircare arsenal. 😉
This is my first HauteLook purchase of 2014. YAYYY!!! I had a $10.00 credit I wanted to use.
I really like Carol’s Daughter. I can’t always afford the products though. The Winter has been extremely cold in my area. I figured it wouldn’t hurt to add a couple of things to my hair care arsenal.
Healthy Hair Butter Protective Cream Hairdress
Tui Moisturizing Leave-In Conditioner
Keeping my hair moisturized during this Winter has been a challenge. Hopefully the Healthy Hair Butter and Tui Moisturizing Leave-In Conditioner will give my hair the extra moisture it needs. 🙂
