Fish Mooney Inspired Tutorial: Featuring Maybelline The Nudes Palette

I am a huge fan of the TV series Gotham. One of the reasons is Jada Pinkett Smith. She plays a brand new character created just for this series, Fish Mooney. What is cool about this show is that it gives the origin stories of the characters. We grew up reading about Batman in the comic book series from DC Comics. We saw the characters play out in the Batman TV show from the 1960s. There have also been various Batman movies. Let’s not forget about the TV cartoons.

I will admit the Fish Mooney character stands out for me because of her makeup. I used the Maybelline the Nudes Palette to create this Fish Mooney inspired look. Enjoy!

Applied the lightest shade from the second quad to the entire lid up to the brow bone

Applied the gold shade to the first half of the lid and also the inner corner

Applied the bronze shade to the outer half of the lid

Applied the shimmery brown shade to the crease

Applied the dark brown shade from the third quad to the outer V

A Closer Look: Maybelline The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette

Maybelline released the Nudes Palette this past Summer. I didn’t immediately jump at the opportunity to purchase this palette. I already have nude eyeshadow palettes: Naked, Naked2, Naked Basics, Nude’tude. I bought this palette when it was 40% off at Rite Aid. I also used a $2.00 off coupon.

The Nudes Palette comes with twelve eyeshadows. I think it’s clever how the eyeshadows in this palette are grouped together. When you look at the palette there are three quads, four trios, and six duos. Thirteen looks can easily be created just by how the eyeshadows are grouped together. The Maybelline website does explain how to create thirteen different looks. This is great for beginners. Those of us who are more experienced the possibilities are endless.

The Nudes Palette has a nice balance of matte and shimmer eyeshadows. Two of the colors came across really sheer on me when I swatched them. My skin tone is darker though. I can’t wait to play with this palette. 🙂

NFL Teams Makeup Look: Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos have won two Super Bowl Championships. Their current quarterback is Peyton Manning. The Denver Broncos did suffer an embarrassing loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLVIII. The team colors for the Broncos are orange, navy, and white.

Mini Maybelline Haul from Rite Aid

I decided to take advantage of the 40% off Maybelline cosmetics this week. It also helped that I had three Maybelline coupons to use.

I already have my fair share of red lip colors. I saw the Burgundy Beauty Color Sensational® lipstick and decided to get it. This shade is perfect for Fall.

I am already a fan of Maybelline’s mascaras. They are my favorite drug store brand. I wanted to try out the Great Lash® Real Impact™ Mascara just to see how the formula is.

I was on the fence as to whether or not I was going to purchase the Nudes Palette. I already have nude eyeshadow palettes. Was having another palette going to be redundant? This palette being on sale and having a $2.00 off coupon helped in making my decision to purchase this palette.

The total price of this purchase after I used $5.50 in coupons was $9.17 (the price before the 7% sales tax was added).

Affordable Halloween Style

My youngest daughter Naomi and her friends decided to wear Halloween costumes today. They are all way past the age of trick or treating too. LOL! Buying a Halloween costume is almost like buying an outfit you’re only going to wear one time.

This is what Naomi wore. She called herself the Magical Mad Hatter.

The hat she is wearing is actually two hair accessories she borrowed from me. The bow tie is another hair accessory she borrowed.
The necklace is mine along with the red shirt.
The vest, black jeans, and boots are hers.
The cape is a long cardigan of mine.

There has been some controversy as of recent regarding the Washington Redskins name. There has also been a push to change the name of this team. Many say the name is offensive to Native Americans. As of today, this NFL team is still known as the Washington Redskins. They have won three Super Bowl Championships. Their team colors are burgundy and gold.
