It’s a Natural Thang Fall/Winter Meet Up

Late November 2016 I attended the It’s a Natural Thang Fall/Winter Meet Up. I was glad to see my favorite vendors were there. I missed the headwrap workshop though. I did see the product demonstration for the Diversame drying tool. Diversame is a drying tool made for natural/afro textured, coiled and curly hair textures. It will hopefully be coming to the market sometime in 2017.

I was hoping Good Body Stuff had my Baby and Vanilla Sandalwood Buttas. That wasn’t the case. I decided to try the smaller size in the Candy and Egyptian Musk Buttas.fall-meetup

Sweethearted has some really cute designs. I knew ahead of time I wanted to purchase one of her t-shirts. The Give Me My Puffs beanie hat is just in time for the colder temperatures. fall-meetup2

The natural deodorant from D’s Natural Products has replaced my Aromaco from Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics. I had purchased the Blackseed Soap previously. This is the new and improved version of the soap. The Pink Sugar incense are my favorite.fall-meetup4

Nikki’s Magic Wand was also in attendance. I purchased a purple and a nude pink shade in the liquid matte lipsticks.fall-meetup6

Another successful It’s a Natural Thang Meet Up in the books. It felt great supporting local businesses.

Naomi’s Prom Style 2016 Edition

I will admit I had very little involvement preparing Naomi for her senior prom. I was there when she picked out her prom shoes from Macy’s. I like the Betsy Johnson shoes for myself. 😉

Prom dress shopping came down to the wire for Naomi. She was extremely busy with the school musical. She found her dress from a specialty store called The Winner located in Sharon Pennsylvania (about an hour away from Pittsburgh).

Naomi purchased her jewelry from Claire’s.

I found a cute wristlet from Burlington Coat Factory.

Naomi’s hair is actually a wig she made. She purchased the hair from Alie Express in deep curl Malaysian.

The only thing I did with makeup was give her a purple smoky eye. Naomi did the rest of her face.

Marketplace Mingle and Cocktail Party

A couple of weeks ago I attended the Marketplace Mingle and Cocktail Party from It’s a Natural Thang. Each attendee received samples of Aunt Jackie’s hair products. The Marketplace Mingle gave local vendors the opportunity to sale their products. I was glad to see two of my favorite vendors there.

Mingle Samples

  • Aunt Jackie’s Quench Moisture Intensive Leave-In Conditioner
  • Aunt Jackie’s Don’t Shrink Flaxseed Elongating Curling Gel

Mingle Shea Butter.jpgI previously purchased shea body butter from Good Body Stuff. This time around I purchased the Baby Butter and Sandalwood Butter. My skin loves this stuff! Check out the website at http://tsbgoodbodystuff.com/

Mingle Shirt.jpgI couldn’t resist purchasing this t-shirt from Sweethearted. I saw this shirt on her Instagram and knew I had to have it. Please feel free to check out the website as well. http://www.sweethearted.com/

Mingle Earrings.jpgI don’t remember the vendor I purchased these earrings from. I like the fact this is a septum clip too.

Mingle Pink Elephant.jpgThis is what I won from the pink elephant gift exchange. The Hask Argan Oil Repairing Hair Kit and Hask Argan Oil Healing Shine Hair Treatment.

Happy shopping. 🙂

Homecoming Style 2015

Homecoming for my youngest daughter Naomi was held Saturday, November 7, 2015. She is a high school senior now and it was amazing to see her style evolve for homecoming. I have watched her grow into a polished young lady. Naomi also used homecoming as a way to practice for her Senior Prom.

Homecoming.jpg

Naomi purchased her homecoming dress earlier this year from Goodwill. She didn’t believe in spending a lot of money on homecoming. The shoes and purse are her sister’s The necklace was given to her.

Naomi styled her own hair. She make clip-ins for extra fullness. Naomi has also gotten quite good at doing her makeup. The only thing I did was her eyeshadow.

I am so proud of her! 🙂

High Tea with SYOUper Fly!

Last week I attended my first High Tea with the group SYOUper Fly! SYOUper Fly! is the sister group of It’s a Natural Thang. Both of these groups are based in Pittsburgh, PA. The High Tea was held at Arnold’s Tea located at East Ohio Street on the North Side of Pittsburgh. This was a great opportunity for the ladies who attended to network and enjoy some delicious tea and treats. 🙂

I had the pleasure of receiving a pair. The pair I received are the “50 Shades” leggings. They’re made of spandex but don’t have a spandex feel. They feel like cotton and are very soft. They are a little pricier than if you were to buy a pair of leggings from a clothing store. They have a huge variety and you get what you pay for which are quality leggins. If you’d like to order some contact Amelia Plunkett in Facebook or visit her website at http://www.myfunleggings.com

Scoats: Coats for your Stethoscope

Breast Cancer ScoatScoats or stethoscope coats if you will are a fashion accessory to the scrubs that serves two purposes. Not only are they fashionable but they protect your investment by keeping the oils from your neck away from the scope, as well as to keep the tubing from cracking. It also protects it from sunlight if kept in the car as so many people do. It keeps it from drying out. They can also be used as an ice breaker to younger patients. They are machine washable. Different fabrics are used but mostly cotton blends. They are custom made so there are multiple colors and designs to choose from. If you don’t see what you’re looking for just ask and they’ll do their best to provide it for you.

Affordable Halloween Style

My youngest daughter Naomi and her friends decided to wear Halloween costumes today. They are all way past the age of trick or treating too. LOL! Buying a Halloween costume is almost like buying an outfit you’re only going to wear one time.

This is what Naomi wore. She called herself the Magical Mad Hatter.

Naomi Halloween Costume

  • The hat she is wearing is actually two hair accessories she borrowed from me. The bow tie is another hair accessory she borrowed.
  • The necklace is mine along with the red shirt.
  • The vest, black jeans, and boots are hers.
  • The cape is a long cardigan of mine.
